Why and How to prep for the Digital SAT's

Why take the SAT?

Since COVID, a lot of schools have made this an optional part of the application process.  However, very few have eliminated, right?  That's because it's not going away.  The benefit of the SAT is that it can lead to scholarships as well as help you stand out from the crowd.

Effective in March, 2024, there are a lot of changes to the SAT:

  • Exam will move from paper to online.

  • Reading and Writing sections are now combined

    • Reading section is an excerpt of passages.

  • Time is shorter (see below)

  • Exam is adaptive - scoring is weighted based on the difficulty.

  • An online calculator will be assessible for the entire math section.

The SAT will now be administered through a digital app called Bluebook

You are required to download the Bluebook app.  There are practice exams. Each student will have 64 minutes to complete the Reading and Writing section and 70 minutes to complete the Math section. Each section is composed of two equal-length modules of test questions. Each Reading and Writing module lasts 32 minutes, while each Math module lasts 35 minutes.

When to take the SAT

How to Register for the official exam

How to Prepare for the Exam

We recommend to take your first official exam during the spring of your junior year of high school.  It's best to take them exam at least twice and submit your best score to your future college.

Exams are issued through Bluebook. Register to take the SAT exam through your schools guidance counselor or register directly at the college board website.

We recommend you know before you go by taking the practice exams. Some schools offer the PSAT digital practice exams.  This helps gauge your score for the SAT.  In addition, We offer a free analysis of your Bluebook practice exam that included detailed reporting and consultation for a customized recommendation.  We also offer our practice exams that allow additional analysis of time management.  Our customized, adaptive exams will provide an assessment of how long each question takes to answer. If your score is over 1100, a bootcamp may be best for you.  Otherwise we recommend either 1-1 tutoring or an SAT class.
